Joy’s journey to massage therapy began with a powerful childhood memory. As a young child, she would watch her father perform a massage technique similar to acupuncture. While there wasn’t a specific term for this unique method, Joy was fascinated with the healing powers of this technique. This significant memory became her true inspiration – being able to heal with massage was what she knew would be a rewarding path for her life.
As a young woman, Joy loved working with her hands and discovered she had a natural talent for detailed, skillful work. She would help her mother cook, fix cars with her brothers, and take apart and reassemble small projects. This hands-on experience and natural dexterity would prove invaluable in her future career.
In 2000, Joy graduated high school from a small town in Wisconsin and decided to take her lifelong experiences to another state. She moved to Minnesota to pursue her interest in Culinary Arts, beginning what would become an interesting and diverse educational journey.
Joy worked at a prestigious restaurant right out of culinary school, where she quickly advanced to Head Chef. Her culinary skills focused mainly on taste and texture, while her creative side leaned towards presentation and balance. After years of mastering and leading a successful life as a chef, she felt the need to take a different path in life.
Joy’s transition from the creative eye of a chef to the skillful hand techniques of a massage therapist started what continues to be an amazing journey. In 2014, she completed her Massage Therapy education at Everest Institute in Eagan, MN, bringing the same dedication to excellence that made her successful in culinary arts.
